On Friday 28th September, we took part in Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event to raise funds for people facing cancer - The World's Biggest Coffee Morning. As a charity and cause extremely close to our hearts as a family here at 261, we knew we wanted to get involved and do our bit. 261 manager India is certainly not just a pretty face, look at the cake spread she baked herself! We had Lemon, elderflower and blueberry cake, Victoria Sponge, Lemon Tart, chocolate and cherry cake, lemon drizzle loaf, coconut cake, banana bread, brownies, gluten-free pear cake and chocolate and hazelnut torte - something for everyone!
Set up outside the salon door and all wearing bright Macmillan t-shirts, the team spent the day chatting away to the people of Parson's Green, encouraging them to donate and enjoy some cake - it was after all a Friday! We were so pleased with the turn out, with clients coming into the salon also getting stuck in. We loved seeing the friendly locals and meeting new people who equally had a special place in their hearts for Macmillan. As the cakes depleted throughout the day, we made guesses as to how much we had raised... but were actually so far off! We are so surprised and excited to announce that we have raised a total of £625 for Macmillan!
Thank you so much to everyone who did their bit and donated a few pennies and pounds! The overall total for Macmillan is still going up but so far this event has raised over £10 million across the country. We massively enjoyed ourselves and look forward to our next charity fundraiser event - keep your eyes peeled!
